Salt Water Fishing Reports (updated March 8, 2010)
Upper Coast
Sabine Lake - Redfish and trout fair over muddy bottom and along channel edges.
Galveston - Trout fair over deep mud and shell. Bigger trout coming off shorelines and over shallow shell and mud. Afternoon bite has been best.
Matagorda - Trout fair over mud and scattered shell in East Bay. Reds fair along south shoreline of West Bay and in Oyster Lake. Drum around jetties.
Middle Coast
Port O'Connor - Trout fair and reds good in waist-deep water over mud bottom. Larger trout holding on shallow mud flats. Some reds also being found in back lakes.
Rockport - Trout fair along edges of ICW and over deeper flats.
Port Aransas/Aransas Pass - Redfish and trout fair along channel edges.
Lower Coast
Corpus Christi - Redfish good in Humble Channel. Trout are fair along channel edges.
Baffin Bay - Trout fair around rocks and mud and along King Ranch Shoreline. Redfish good in Land Cut.
Port Mansfield - Redfish and trout fair along west shoreline and along edges of ICW. Some bull reds in East Cut.
Port Isabel/South Padre - "Fishing still up and down but getting better. Reds reported south of
Cullen and some nice trout biting on live shrimp under popping corks during good winds. South Bay also good during good winds on popping corks and shrimp for trout and reds. Sheepshead all up and down the causeways during slow currents. The Brownsville Ship Channel has lots of mangrove snappers, some sheepshead and small drum. Water warming up slowly will increase the fish bites and also the full moon needs to go down. Also good trout reported behind Bird Island in the mouth of the Arroyo being caught on maulers and white gulps....GOOD LUCK....." - Capt. Gencho Jr.
